2009 Korennaya Hermitage Service
On September 25th The Kursk Root Icon Returned to it's home roots at Korennaya Hermitage in the Kursk Region of Rusiia. The monastery had many workers getting the new Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church ready for the return visit of it's icon at the end of the summer. This Church was rebuilt exactly like the one that the Soviet Union had destoryed. What a wonderful addition to the monastery. This next year the seven Holy Springs will be improved with better walkways and spring buildings. The Kursk Root Icon was found here in the roots of a tree by the lower river in 1295.
Tthe head of the Kursk region Alexander Mikhailov met with Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. During the meeting the head of the ROCOR has confirmed that it is now in the travel schedule of the miraculous Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God of the Sign "would include annual visits to Kursk.
In September 1991, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II has called the Kursk Root Hermitage the third spiritual center of Russia, along with the Trinity-Sergiev Lavra and Diveevsky abode Seraphim of Sarov in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

September 12th 2009 the Kursk Root Icon returns to visit Russia. The Icon landed in
Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow and stayed there for a week and then returned were it had been found in the year 1295. It has been in the USA under the protection of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia they were keeping it safe from the old Soviet Union for the past 50 years.
On the 23rd of September 2009, the Kursk-Root Icon, the Kursk-Root Icon Arrives in Kursk, in the presence of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, arrived in Kursk, Russia. It was greeted by local clergy and government officials and a massive crowd of faithful. Following its arrival, a service was held in the center of the city atteneded by thousands of people. The festive and historic occasion left a deep impression on all who attended. A Kursk Root Icon Procession was done on 9-25-09 to it's home roots at the Korennaya Hermitage Monastery 30 Km North of Kursk in the Sovodoba Village. The Icon Stayed here for a few exta days as the pilgrims turnout was very large and many stayed in line for many many hours even the ill to venerate the Holy Icon at its roots.

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill sanctify revived the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Cathedral Church at the Men's Kursk Root Hermitage in the town of Svodoba (Freedom). The consecration of the temple, visiting the exhibition, which is devoted to the history of the monastery and the miraculous icon.

The Deputy head of the regional government, Igor Pakhomov, announced that at the beginning of June the construction of the cathedral had been spent 97 million rubles. On the improvement of the village of Liberty and the cloister of monks in recent years from various sources was drawn more than 600 million rubles.

Kursk, September 9. By order of the Kursk branch of the Post of Russia with the blessing of the Archbishop Herman of Kursk and Rylsk produced labeled envelopes and postcards, for the arrival at the main Kursk Russian Orthodox Church - Icon of the Theotokos of the Sign Kursk.
The envelope shows the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Korennaya Hermitage (photo from the archives of the President of the Kursk regional public fund of the Orthodox tradition, socio-economic and cultural revival of "Aboriginal desert", the Secretary of the Political Council for Integrated revival of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monastery Aboriginal desert Sergei Loktionova) and the inscription - "Yet you icons of the Sign of the Mother of God of Kursk in the limits of the Fatherland.
